George Bowie was born on July 29, 1747, to Mary Smalley Bowie and George Bowie.
The husband of Rachel Strout Bowie, George was a soldier in the American Revolution, serving in the capacity of Private in Captain Samuel Thomas’s company; Col. Benjamin Tupper’s regiment (DAR Ancestor #: A012811; SAR Patriot #: P-118634).
He died at sea (drowned) near Portland, Cumberland County, Maine, on 4 May 1793, aged 45.
